DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Columbia C3003 Eyeglasses bring outdoor-tested durability to your everyday prescription frames. Built with a full-rim stainless steel front and contoured plastic temples, these rectangle eyeglasses balance professional style with the rugged reliability Columbia is known for since 1938.

Stainless Steel Construction Built to Last

The C3003's stainless steel frame resists corrosion and rust while staying lightweight on your face. This metal is naturally hypoallergenic and flexible enough for optician adjustments, yet strong enough to handle daily wear. The full-rim design secures your prescription lenses completely, making these frames compatible with stronger prescriptions and progressive lenses. Adjustable nose pads let you fine-tune the fit to your bridge, distributing weight evenly and preventing the slipping common with fixed-bridge frames.

The plastic temples add grip and comfort behind the ears, a practical touch for all-day wear whether you're at a desk or on the trail. Available in four finishes—Satin Black, Satin Gunmetal, Satin Navy, and Satin Walnut—the C3003 pairs a clean rectangle shape with subtle tortoise or solid temple detailing, depending on your color choice.

Sizing and Fit

Columbia offers the C3003 in three lens widths: 53mm, 55mm, and 58mm, all with a 16mm bridge. The 53mm and 55mm sizes have 140mm temples, while the 58mm steps up to 145mm temples for larger heads. This range makes it easier to find a secure fit without the frame feeling too tight or sliding down.

These frames are prescription-ready and work with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. If you're replacing an old pair, make sure the full model number matches exactly—Columbia's size variations mean a 55-16-140 won't fit lenses cut for a 58-16-145.

Who They're For

The C3003 suits men looking for dependable, no-fuss eyeglasses that won't quit. The rectangle shape balances round or oval faces, and the understated design works in professional settings without looking too formal for weekends. If you're hard on your frames or want something that holds up to outdoor conditions, the stainless steel and full-rim build deliver the durability Columbia's outdoor gear is known for.

Perfect Fit

Being able to replace just the frame saved me the huge cost of getting new lenses. My old lenses popped easily into the new frame. If you are using old lenses, make sure ALL the frame numbers match exactly since there are different sized frames in this Columbia C3003 model.

Good Frames

I bought a pair of these 2 years ago, and recently they split where the temples meet the front frame. I was disheartened. I purchased these as a replacement, and have enjoyed them all over again. Good frame, though it does feel a little cheap with the temple material.

New frame

This was a replacement frame. You made it easy to get the frame and just put in existing lenses in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Columbia C3003 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Columbia C3003 frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. The full-rim design provides complete lens security, making them suitable for stronger prescriptions. Most optical labs can fit these frames with your prescription.

What material are the Columbia C3003 frames made from?

The C3003 features a stainless steel front frame with plastic temples. Stainless steel is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, hypoallergenic, and durable—offering many of the same benefits as titanium at a more affordable price. The plastic temples provide comfortable grip behind the ears.

Can I adjust the nose pads on these frames?

Yes, the Columbia C3003 has adjustable nose pads that can be repositioned by an optician or carefully adjusted at home. Moving the pads inward raises the frames, while moving them outward lowers them. Proper adjustment distributes weight evenly and prevents slipping, especially important for heavier prescription lenses.

What size should I choose for the Columbia C3003?

The C3003 comes in three lens widths: 53mm, 55mm, and 58mm (all with a 16mm bridge). The 53mm and 55mm sizes have 140mm temples, while the 58mm has 145mm temples for larger heads. If you're replacing existing frames, match the exact size numbers (found on the inside temple) to ensure your current lenses will fit.

Are Columbia eyeglasses durable for outdoor use?

Yes, Columbia eyeglasses are designed with outdoor durability in mind, drawing on the brand's 80+ years of making rugged outdoor gear. The C3003's stainless steel construction resists corrosion and daily wear, while the full-rim design protects lenses during active use. They're built to handle both office environments and outdoor activities.

How do stainless steel frames compare to titanium?

Stainless steel frames like the C3003 offer similar benefits to titanium—they're lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and hypoallergenic—but at a lower price point. While titanium is slightly lighter and more flexible, stainless steel is more affordable and still highly durable. Both materials can be easily adjusted for a custom fit.

Columbia C3003 vs. C3015 vs. C3016: Which Rectangle Frame Is Right for You?

All three models deliver Columbia's outdoor-ready durability in a professional rectangle shape, but they differ in rim style, sizing, and fit.

Columbia C3003: The Full-Rim Workhorse

The C3003 offers complete lens coverage with its full-rim stainless steel design. It's the most versatile for prescription strength—the full rim supports heavier lenses and progressive prescriptions without compromise. With three sizes (53, 55, 58mm) and a 16mm bridge, it fits most face widths. The plastic temples add comfort for all-day wear. Choose the C3003 if you want maximum lens security, a classic look, and the most affordable entry point into Columbia's metal eyewear.

Columbia C3015: The Semi-Rimless Option

The C3015 removes the bottom rim for a lighter, more modern appearance. This semi-rimless design shows more of your face and feels less "frame-heavy," but it's best suited for low-to-moderate prescriptions. Columbia offers four sizes here (53, 57, 59, 61mm), including a 61mm option for larger heads. The subtle wingtip detail adds a touch of elegance. Pick the C3015 if you prefer minimal frame visibility and need a larger size than the C3003 offers.

Columbia C3016: The Wider Bridge Alternative

The C3016 shares the C3003's full-rim construction but features a 17mm bridge instead of 16mm, making it better for wider or flatter nose bridges. All three sizes (55, 57, 59mm) use 150mm temples, which may be too long for smaller faces but ideal if you need extra length. One customer noted these frames ran wide, so they're best for medium-to-large faces. Choose the C3016 if the C3003's 16mm bridge feels too narrow or you need longer temples.

Our Recommendation

The Columbia C3003 is the best all-around choice for most buyers. Its full-rim design works with any prescription strength, the 16mm bridge fits average face widths, and the three size options cover small to large. It's also the most affordable. Go with the C3015 if you want a lighter look and don't have a strong prescription, or the C3016 if you specifically need a wider bridge or longer temples.
